Gosainkunda is one of the sacred places of Nepal where numerous Buddhist and Hindu pilgrims visit to worship, especially during the full moon in August. It is believed that Gosainkunda Lake was formed by Lord Shiva to put out the thirst after gulping down the toxin that was terrifying the world. So, with a strong religious and spiritual value, Gosainkunda trek becomes a popular trekking trail in the Langtang region.
Langtang Valley, lying to the North of Kathmandu valley, is rightly called “the Valley of Glaciers”. So, Langtang Gosainkunda trek rewards you with stunning mountain streams, pine forest, grassy pastures scattered with daisies, and gigantic snow covered peaks.
The fascinating parts of the trek are Kyanjin Gompa, an old Buddhist place of pilgrimage, a climb to Chorko-Ri to witness the beautiful view of Mt. Langtang-ri, Langsisa, Ganjala peak, walking through the dense rhododendron forest and most importantly visiting the holy lake, Gosainkunda (4200m.).
You will also visit Langtang National park established in 1976 which protects the flora and fauna of the region. This trek also gives you an opportunity to experience the culture and way of life of Tamang people; the majority of the region.
The 19 days Langtang Gosainkunda Trek offers you a chance to experience the natural scenery and unique cultures of the Langtang Gosainkunda region. The is regarded as the medium type of trekking and the highest altitude in this trek is 4620m. You will be accommodating either in a tent or lodge or guest house while trekking accordingly.
