Trip Itinerary

Day 01Arrive at Paro Airport (2250m.)
After you arrive at Paro International Airport, you will be assisted and then you drive through the beautiful Paro valley to the hotel for overnight stay.

Day 02Paro Exploration
After Breakfast, you will be exploring around the city for the entire day. You will get an opportunity to visit a number of natural, historical and cultural sites of the country which includes the very famous Drukgyal Dzong, a wreck fortress deliberately significant to Bhutan’s defense against Tibet. Shortly, Mount Jomolhari can be seen beyond the ruined castle on a clear day. Later in the afternoon, you will visit Paro Dzong and National Museum. And hereafter, you will visit the popular handicrafts in Paro and stay overnight in the hotel.

Day 03Paro-Thimpu (2320m.)
Early in the morning you start your journey with a drive to Thimpu, the capital city of Bhutan through the picturesque landscape and terraced pastures all along the bank of the Pa Chu (also known as Paro River), Wang Chu, and finally drive up the Thimpu valley. In the afternoon, you then visit the confined handicrafts and stay overnight in the hotel.

Day 04Thimpu Sightseeing
Today after Breakfast, you can meander round the city visiting the shops and especially handicraft shops. You can even stopover the workshop where all the handiworks are produced. You will come back to the hotel for lunch. After that, you will visit National Library. You take a petite march and observe the Takin (Bhutan’s national animal). You will stay overnight at the hotel.

Day 05Thimpu -Trongsa (2300m.)
Fifth day of the voyage, you travel from central Bhutan to Tongsa which will take around 7-8 hours. During your drive, you will visit the ancient capital of Bhutan Punakha Dzong which is located at an elevation of 1,350m (4,430ft). Opposite to this huge Dzong, you will witness a temple which has occupied the region since 1328, and is built by saint, Ngagi Rinchen. After your lunch at Chendebji Chorten, you will continue your drive to Tongsa and stay overnight at hotel.

Day 06Trongsa – Bumthang (2800m.)
After Breakfast, you will get an opportunity to visit Ta-Dzong (watchtower) and Tongsa Dzong prior to begin your journey to Bumthang. Bumthang is 29 Km (18 miles) away from Tongsa. You then reach Yotong La pass at an altitude of 3,425m (11,155ft). And from the standpoint, you can see the castle of the White Bird, Jakar Dzong. After your lunch at Bumthang you will visit Kurje Lhakhang, Jampa Lhakhang, Kencho Sum Lhakhang and Tamshing Lhakhang. The night will be spent at the hotel.

Day 07Bumthang – Mongar (1600m.)
Early in the morning you begin your drive and cross the Thumsing la pass at an elevation of 3,800meters (12,465ft) to Mongar. The subsequent descent from high pine woodland to abundant fields and orchards is one of the most exhilarating drives in all of the Himalayas. Steep cliffs with even steeper fall, garrulous waterfalls, blazing flowers, and frequently altering vegetation unite to make this expedition assorted and beautiful. Later you will stay overnight at hotel.

Day 08Mongar – Tashigang (2100m.)
Today you will drive to the eastern part of Bhutan, Trashigang, which takes around 4-5hours. The town over here is petite with a smattering of shops. On your way, you can take a break to take pictures of the animals and bird. Later, you will stay overnight in the lodge.

Day 09Tashigang [Excursion to Tashiyangtse]
Today on your way, you will visit a famous Goma Kora Monastery and continue your drive to Tashiyangtse. This is an additional place where you can find black necked cranes. A city here has developed another renowned Chorten Kora (one of the two temples built like those exist in Nepal) where Guru Padmashambhava is supposed to visualize that a Chorten and temple would be built. Later you visit Bhutanese lacquer varnishing center and Chorten Kora. After your lunch, you will drive back to Tashigang and stay overnight in lodge.

Day 10Tashigang – Mongar (1600m.)
After breakfast, you will visit the renowned Tashigang Dzong and drive back to Mongar. You can catch-up the missed sites during your forward trip. In the afternoon, you enjoy leisure time and overnight stay at the lodge.

Day 11Mongar – Trongsa (2300m.)
After breakfast, you drive to Tongsa. There is a series of terrifying bends between Namning and Sengo. The path is factually dug out of the rock and surrounded by a vertiginous fall. The intense atmosphere is worsened by the unvarying humidity, the recurrent mist and lack of any human activity. You stay overnight in tourist lodge.

Day 12Tongsa – Thimpu (2320m.)
After taking early breakfast along with your packed lunch, you drive to Thimpu. You will be driving through the thick forests of magnolia trees and rhododendrons. You will stopover at Chendibji Chorten for the lunch, continue your drive to Thimpu and stay overnight.

Day 13Thimpu – Paro (2250m.)
Today you drive to Paro and on the way; you will visit the oldest Dzong in Bhutan, Simtokha Dzong. Later, you stay overnight in hotel.

Day 14Departure
You will be transferred to Paro Airport early in the morning for the departure.
